Neuropathy Program

What is Neuropathy?

Neuropathy Treatment

Neuropathy occurs when nerves of the peripheral nervous system are damaged

Neuropathy is a collection of disorders that occurs when nerves of the peripheral nervous system (the part of the nervous system outside of the brain and spinal cord) are damaged. The condition is generally referred to as Peripheral Neuropathy, and it is most commonly due to damage to the nerves. Neuropathy usually causes pain and numbness in the hands and feet. It can result from traumatic injuries, infections, metabolic disorders, and exposure to toxins. One of the most common causes of neuropathy is diabetes.

Neuropathy is at an all time high in our history. There are now approximately 20,000,000 patients that are suffering from this dreaded malady. Management of neuropathy in private practice can be one of the most frustrating clinical experiences a physician can have. Until now most treatments have focused only on symptom control by drugs, or glucose control in diabetics. Physical Therapy provides little to any lasting relief. Drug costs and side effects have left us wishing there were more that we can do.

A drug-free solution to treat Neuropathy

Presswood Chiropractic utilizes a combination of patient care which includes nutrition, soft tissue manipulation, and high frequency nerve stimulation therapy so you can achieve not only lasting relief, but long term ability to manage yourself at home by continuing the treatment strategies that we will teach you. Patients are transferred to home care after a successful clinical trial of about 5 weeks.

What to expect from our Neuropathy Program

Neuropathy is a serious condition that gradually gets worse with time if not treated properly. Depending upon your severity, every response is different. That is why we must monitor you clinically for 5 weeks to adjust the treatment to fit your individual needs. After this time we will get you what you need to take care of yourself at home, with occasional follow up visits for some manual care at the office. The average improvement range is 20% to 90%, and about 50% of these cases improve. Remember that these are serious cases with no hope in the past of improvement, so a 50% chance is quite remarkable in comparison to past treatment. Many patients feel relief in just a few visits, some report finally a full night’s sleep just as well. This protocol may be life changing. Some conditions are beyond complete recovery and we try to make them as comfortable as we can. Every case is treated to the best knowledge that we have today.

Treatments last about 45 minutes 3 times a week for 5 weeks. It is important that you follow up at home with your nutrition as prescribed. We will do our utmost to help you, and the treatment we offer is the most current treatment available for your condition.

Vitamin Supplementation for Neuropathy Program

Dr. Presswood will instruct you to take vitamin supplements during the program as these are essential to help your body rebuild the damaged tissues and help you recover by providing your body the building blocks that it is lacking or needing more of. These nutrients will help you achieve the maximum result of the Neuropathy Program.
